Overcoming failure is the ability to recover and become stronger as a result of dealing with challenging and difficult events that all of us experience in our lives. This audio is designed to help you to overcome failure by adopting a GROWTH attitude.
Chapter 2 of this audio looks specifically at how to bounce back from redundancy with practical advice on taking stock and planning your way forward.
In our culture we have been conditioned to fear failure. We hate to make mistakes, dislike criticism and don’t like to appear stupid in the eyes others. Whether it is in our careers, business, education, relationships, sport or in life generally, we don’t want others to think of us as failures. In some cases we will deny or cover things up rather than admit mistakes. It’s because everyone loves a winner. Everybody needs to love and to be loved. If we don’t win then the fear is that we may not be enough and we won’t be loved.
But this is not reality. No one is perfect. No one is right all the time and no one wins all the time. Studies of very successful people reveal that they faced many setbacks and had many failures along the way to ultimate success.
The value of failure is in the learning and the growth that it provides. Without learning and growth, failure can be a destructive force in our lives. But don’t let it. Get back up, Reframe the picture positively; identify your Options, find a Way forward, think appreciation and Work your socks off!
With your GROWTH attitude, failure is just temporary and you will bounce back and achieve your potential.
Losing our job is something we all fear and it that can certainly impact on our confidence and self-esteem. But, being made redundant need not be the calamity it first appears to be. With the right attitude you can bounce back and turn it into an opportunity for finding a job you're really passionate about.
But remember it is jobs or roles that are made redundant – not people. You can only become redundant if you see yourself as that job role. You may find yourself out of work for a while, but that does not have to mean the end of your working life.

Resilience is the ability to recover and become stronger as a result of dealing with challenging and difficult events that all of us experience in our lives. This audio is designed to help you to develop a resilient mind-set and a resilient skill-set to help you to bounce back from life’s challenges.
With the relentless pace of change in our modern world our lives seem to becoming increasingly complex. Because of the ecological, social, economic and political challenges in today’s world, as well as our own personal issues, it is essential that we learn to develop this vital quality of resilience.
Like many important human qualities, some people seem to be born with resilience and others have learned to become more resilient. Is resilience just a natural gift some people are lucky enough to have or can it be nurtured?
Research shows that all of us have the potential to adapt, learn and grow out of any situation, including the most horrifying and traumatic of events. Resilience can be learned, developed and strengthened and you can teach it to others.
Resilience is an inner quality that can only develop as a consequence of difficult times in our lives. It is impossible to become resilient without challenges. The challenging and difficult experiences of our lives present us with the opportunity to grow in character and become resilient. The good times don’t give us that opportunity. It is only in the “School of Hard Knocks” and the “Classroom of Adversity” that we can learn the lessons of resilience and bounce back.
Looking at the lives of highly resilient people it is clear that qualities such as courage; belief; hope; perseverance, acceptance; forgiveness and compassion are central to their success. This tells us that it is “inner qualities that transformed their lives and we came learn from their experience. Simply put, resilience is about building the inner strength to deal effectively with the stresses, trials and difficulties of life and to grow from the experience. We become more resilient when we learn to understand the spiritual, intangible, concepts of courage, faith, love, hope etc. and put them into practice in our daily lives.
This short audio presentation by Dr Denis McBrinn and narrated by Sara Dylan, is designed to bring a clear and unambiguous definition of what opportunity is, how to seize it, and to give you a relaxing moment to focus and reflect on the level of opportunity currently in your life.
"The pessimist sees the problem with every opportunity. The optimist sees the opportunity in every problem" Winston Churchill.
Life's opportunities are not always immediately obvious.
Opportunities can come to us disguised as problems, difficulties and challenges. Sometimes all it takes is a subtle change in thinking to make the most of them.
This short audio presentation is designed to bring a clear and unambiguous definition of what courage is, how develop it, and to give you an opportunity to focus and reflect on the level of courage currently in your life.
"Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change and the courage to change the things I can." Reinhold Niebuhr
Courage is one of the most important inner qualities we can develop to address our fears.
The beginnings of a new year will often hold anxieties and fears on what lies ahead. But January also reminds us that the darker days are gradually on the turn. In the midst of winter, the daffodils are pushing through and soon we will have crocuses and snowdrops.
Nature teaches us that there is a way through darkness into the light.
In adversity we can find opportunities to develop courage and learn how to overcome fear.
When we grasp the nettle and face up to fear with courage, we find a way through.
We find strength in taking the courage to act and the intensity of fear is reduced.

There would be no paperwork; no forms to fill in and of course, no tax returns! But also; there would be no literature; no science; no history; no newspapers; no internet; and no social media.
It is almost beyond imagining because our modern world is so dependent on the written word.

Carefree timelessness is when time appears to stand still.
