The challenging and difficult experiences of our lives present us with the opportunity to grow in character and become resilient. The good times don’t give us that opportunity. It is only in the “School of Hard Knocks” and the “Classroom of Adversity” that we can learn the lessons of resilience and bounce back.

Looking at the lives of highly resilient people it is clear that qualities such as courage; belief; hope; perseverance, acceptance; forgiveness and compassion are central to their success. This tells us that it is “inner qualities that transformed their lives and we came learn from their experience. Simply put, resilience is about building the inner strength to deal effectively with the stresses, trials and difficulties of life and to grow from the experience. We become more resilient when we learn to understand the spiritual, intangible, concepts of courage, faith, love, hope etc. and put them into practice in our daily lives.
